Bloody Mary
A Bloody Mary is a popular and often spicy cocktail that contains vodka, tomato juice, and often other spices and flavorings, such as Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, bouillon, celery, horseradish, salt, black pepper, olives, cayenne pepper, or lemon juice.
Screwdriver
This is a really simple and quite basic cocktail that’s popular all over the world. It’s simply made with vodka and orange juice, and is often referred to as “Vodka and Orange Juice”. Whilst it consists of only two basic ingredients, there can be different variations of it found all over the world.
Cuba Libre
This is a popular highball drink that’s made of rum, Coca Cola, and a hint of lime juice. With the lime juice being optional, it’s sometimes simply referred to as ‘Rum and Cola’, or a ‘Coke and Sugar’.
These drinks come in salt frosted glasses and are a very popular party drink, made from a mix of one shot of tequila, half a shot of Cointreau and a dash of lemon juice. They do vary a lot depending on where you get them, but the basics usually stay the same.
Martini
Famous for being James Bond’s drink of choice, the martini is a classic cocktail made of two parts gin or vodka to one part dry vermouth, and is garnished with an olive.
Daiquiri
Daiquiri is a family of sweet and fruity cocktails whose main ingredients are rum, lime juice and sugar. There are several versions depending on which fruits are used, with popular variations including Strawberry or Orange. The El Floridita bar in Havana, Cuba makes Daiquiris that have gained international fame.
Cosmopolitan
Possibly the most ‘girly’ of the cocktails, cosmopolitans are made with a full shot of vodka, and half a shot of Triple Sec, lime juice and cranberry juice, making them a popular choice for a girls’ night out.
Pina Colada
The Pina Colada is a sweet, Spanish cocktail with a base of rum. Its main ingredients are rum, cream of coconut and pineapple, which are served either blended, or shaken with ice. The Pina Colada is the official beverage of Puerto Rico, and has been since 1978. Traditionally, it’s often served garnished with a pineapple wedge or a maraschino cherry.
Tequila Sunrise
Originally created in the 1940’s by Gene Sulit, the Tequila Sunrise was named for the way that it looks once it’s been poured into a glass. The main ingredients are tequila, orange juice, and grenadine syrup, which settles creating gradations looking like a sunrise.
Mojito
Traditionally made of white rum, lime, sugar, sparkling water and mint, the mojito is a popular Cuban cocktail that’s very refreshing in taste. The combination of sweet and citrus flavors make it a popular summer drink.
